3 Thoughts About Pride

  • Pride is the feeling of good enough at anything. Not more nor less than anyone else. A feeling of worthiness. Perhaps not yet the best in the field but definitely worthy of taking space. Pride is not ego. Pride is the feeling of self worthiness. Pride is the reason to ask for a raise. Pride is the reason to start a conversation with a stranger. Pride is the reason to speak up your opinion even if it’s not popular.
  • Society plays a tricky game on the boundaries of pride and bragging specially when it comes to women. It encourages women to have a tricky modest pride. A quiet pride. It promotes self love and respect, but hold on-  don’t think too highly of yourself. Who do you think you are? As a result to this mixed message we try to balance ourselves on this very fine line. Minimising our pride. Adding to it shame and self hate. Maintaining peace and order. For who? not for you.
  • Pride is not earned with time or achievements. You will not feel it once you get the girl, the job or the money. Pride is a manifestation of self love. Self love is the source to any other love. If you don’t have it yet, it’s time to start practicing it. It’s time you felt proud being you. Are you in?
